Brief about this SBW Berlin Scholarship
SBW Berlin Scholarship 2022-2023 is a fully financed grant for foreign students. This grant is given to bachelor’s and master’s students. The scholarship provides various perks, including a monthly stipend, a travel and lodging allowance, and a 100% remission of tuition expenses.
The SBW Berlin Scholarship helps international students from low-income families who use their education in Germany to further long-term non-profit projects, ideally back home.
We base our scholarship decisions for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Berlin and Potsdam on a student’s academic credentials, individual skills, and social needs. Generally speaking, funding is available for all fields of science and the arts. In exceptional circumstances, we can also help with Berlin or Potsdam vocational training. Study funding from other German federal states or from your own nation is not included.

Eligibility conditions
Eligible course or programme:
Any undergraduate or graduate degree programme available at the institution is open to applicants.
Other Criteria:
Students must fulfill the following criteria in order to be eligible for SBW Berlin Scholarship:
- Candidates should be before the beginning of their institution education or fully enrolled in the 1st, 2nd or maximum 3rd semester at a state-recognized institution (in Germany or abroad) or application for a postgraduate (Master’s) degree shortly before / after receiving a Bachelor’s degree. Average grades are equivalent to a German GPA of at least 2.0.
- applicants who can demonstrate having a modest net income. The applicants’ combined family income does not surpass the official estimate of the average income for their native nation. All household members’ incomes and the family’s various sources of income, such as those from jobs, businesses, property investment, child benefits, as well as pensions, will be taken into consideration.
- Activities outside of the classroom Experience: Candidates who have worked or volunteered in the nonprofit sector.
- Applicants must be 18-30 years old.

SBW Berlin Scholarship offers the following benefits to the winners:
- A room in the shared student flats of the institution in Berlin.
- Tuition costs.
- Living allowance (in the amount determined in section IX).
- Additionally, you might be given a travel allowance to cover the cost of your flights to Berlin prior to the beginning of your studies and home once you’ve finished them.
How to apply for this SBW Berlin Scholarship?
To apply for SBW Berlin Scholarship, please follow the following application steps:
You must have received admission, acceptance, or eligibility documentation from a university in Berlin or Potsdam.
– First, complete the application form.
-Second, add your photo, together with your name and contact details.
-Third, describe your past and present academic background.
-Fourth, give details on the following:
- Your household members and parents.
- Latest certificate from a school / university
- Experience with volunteering.
- Experience traveling overseas.
- Your talents, interests, as well as hobbies.
- Current employment and ideal career.
- Career experience and internships.
- High School Leaving Certificate.
- Highest university degree earned.
- Training, if you apply for vocational training.
-Fifth, provide the following documents:

- All prior training, apprenticeship, work and internship certificates and references.
- If you’ve already begun your studies, please include any university certificates and achievements records that you have received thus far (both graded and ungraded).
Additional Documents
We advise all applicants to provide the following extra documents even if they are not very necessary:
- 1 or 2 letters of reference (from professors, schoolteachers, employers, etc.).
- The net household income proof.
Note: Translations and uncertified copies are acceptable for SBW Berlin Scholarship application. The candidate will need certified copies of some of those documents throughout the verification procedure if they pass the selection procedure.
-Sixth, applicants must submit their applications for SBW Berlin Scholarship with all enclosed certificates and supporting documents either in English or German via email to: application@sbw.berlin.
Language Requirements:
The candidates must have a language certificate from an accredited institution for the language that will be used for your study.
