Eligible course or programme:

The broad fields of mathematical system theory, control engineering, process control, (mechatronic) system design, identification, optimization, and learning are open to applicants. They are free to pursue any research project in these fields. Both basic research and applied research are relevant to the posts.

Students must fulfill the following requirements in order to be eligible:

Job requirements / PhD 

  • doctorate in systems and control, or a related field.
  • Capability of doing excellent academic research, as shown, for example, by a related Doctoral thesis and/or publication (s).
  • English language proficiency at a high level, along with effective communication and leadership abilities. Notably, knowledge of Dutch is not necessary.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, dynamic environment and willingness to cooperate with others.
  • Possessing the ability to teach as evidenced by prior instruction, aid with instruction, and favorable assessments of these efforts.

Job requirements / Postdoctoral

  • A master’s degree (or an academic equivalent). In systems and control or a related engineering discipline.
  • Teamwork skills and a desire to collaborate with industrial partners.
  • A command of both written and oral English (C1 level).
  • A research-oriented attitude.

Benefits provided by the institution:

The Eindhoven University of Technology will cover the following study-related costs:

  • Benefits and a gross monthly salary in accordance with the Dutch Universities Collective Labor Agreement. In addition, there is a year-end allowance equal to 8.3 percent of the annual stipend and a yearly holiday allowance of 8% of the annual stipend.
  • If you are a foreign national and meet the requirements, you may be able to use the so-called “30% facility,” which exempts you from paying tax on 30% of your stipend.

The candidates need to have a TOEFL-IBT score of 90 or an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5. TU/e accepts IELTS and TOEFL tests.

TOEFL: A minimum overall band score of  90 with a minimum score of 21 for each section;
IELTS (academic version): A minimum overall band score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 for each section.
