RESTRICTION
Applicants for GKS Scholarship Korea must understand the following points:
- Students who are pursuing a business or economics degree at their home university are not eligible to enroll in the College of Business Administration.
- The KOREAN HISTORY/ PSYCHOLOGY/ STATISTICS MAJOR requires applicants to demonstrate their proficiency in Korean. Both Level 5 or higher on the official Korean Language Proficiency Test and Level 5 or higher on the Korean Test administered by the SNU Language Institute constitute adequate levels of Korean language proficiency.
- COLLEGE OF LAW is closed to bachelor’s level students from Spring 2018.
- Students at the bachelor’s level will be able to enroll in the School of Law, a graduate-level law school, starting in the fall of 2018. Keep in mind that during their studies, these undergraduate students will be enrolled as graduate (Master’s) students at the SNU Law School.
- The eligibility for GKS 2024 applicants who intend to study in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, music, and MBA must be confirmed in advance by SNU coordinators.
- Exchange students can no longer enroll in COLLEGE OF MEDICINE.
- ONLY master’s level students presently enrolled in a master’s programme at the School of Dentistry, or an equivalent programme at their home institution, are eligible to apply to the College of Dentistry.
- The College of Dentistry DOES NOT provide the student exchange program at the undergraduate level.
- Students who are presently enrolled in vocal music at their home institution are only eligible for the VOCAL MUSIC MAJOR.
Global Korea Scholarship 2024 Benefits
GKS 2024 provides the recipient with below benefits:
- Monthly living expenses of 500,000 won.
- Allowance for settlement of 200,000 won upon arrival.
- Round-trip Airfare: Reimbursement is available up to the set amount.
- GKS Scholarship Korea also provides Monthly Health Insurance of 20,000 won (paid by each university).
Eligibility Criteria for GKS 2024
To be eligible for Global Korea Scholarship 2024, the applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Required Language: English.
- Eligible Countries: Students from all over the world can apply for GKS 2024.
- Candidates need to be enrolled in at least the 2nd semester of their home university programme at the time of application (i.e., must have finished at least one semester). Therefore, graduate students who are applying but are already enrolled in the first semester of the Master’s programme will not be considered.
- Applicants for the GKS Scholarship Korea need to earn the required GPA. (from the admission of Fall 2020)
- GPA of 2.5/4.0 (equal to 2.7/4.3) or percentile rank of 83 for undergraduates
- GPA of 3.0/4.0 (equal to 3.3/4.3) or percentile rank of 89 for masters
How to Apply for Global Korea Scholarship 2024?

- Candidates need to be nominated by their institutions, which should send the application package by email along with a formal nomination letter for the GKS Scholarship 2024.
- The designated SNU coordinator will provide the nominated candidates with comprehensive instructions on how to log in and submit an online application.
- Fill out the online application form for the exchange program, upload the scanned copies of the following documents to the application system, and submit the application:
- A certificate of enrollment from the institution you are currently attending.
- An official transcript from the university.
- A Letter of Reference from a professor at the current institution.
- A Motivation Letter (a free essay either in English or in Korean).
- A Copy of the Student’s Passport.
