How to apply for this CSC Scholarship?

1- Application Period: Every year, between January and April, applications are open for the CSC Scholarship. Different deadlines apply to some authorized agencies/universities. You should check the deadlines for the institutions that you want to attend.
2- You must first complete your application for the CSC Scholarship (in either English or Chinese). You are able to apply for 3 institutions with this CSC portal account.
3- At the beginning of the online application form, you will be asked to select the scholarship type according to its funding (A, B, or C), as well as the authorized agency/university number (it is a code that they will either find on the internet or get from the university they have selected).
4- After completing the online Chinese Government Scholarship application form completely, you need to attach the required PDF-formatted documents (the list is given below).
5- After submitting your online application for the CSC Scholarship, you need to download this application.
6- Choose the Chinese University and Course.
7- Check if the Chinese institution that you have chosen requires an online application for admission in addition to the CSC Scholarship application.
8- If the university demands an online application, then submit this one along with your Chinese Government Scholarship application on the website of this respective university.
9- Make two sets of the required documents from the list below, and send them to the university’s address.
10- As of mid-July, the results will be available on the same page as the application. From that moment on, the entities start sending out the required documents by postal mail so that the candidates’ home countries can process their study visas.

Required Documents

Completed application form: You can find it right after registering on their website!

1- Notary attested highest degree & transcript.
2- Official medical form or Foreigner Physical Examination Form. A completed copy of this form, signed by a doctor must be attached. Make sure the doctor’s signature is on the form and that the hospital or medical center where you complete it has officially sealed it. The previously attached card photograph must have at least 1 stamp stamped on top of it. Don’t use forms older than six months from the application date because they are not accepted.
3- Resume written in either English or Chinese: You can either attach a document containing details on your academic interests and your specialty, or fill it out directly in the corresponding section of the application form (we think that the space allotted for this is quite short, so we recommend that you attach these details in an attached document).
4- 2 letters of reference from your former university instructors, written in either English or Chinese.
5- If you plan to study in English but are not a native English speaker, you must have a TOEFL or IELTS diploma. Each institution has set minimum scores for both diplomas for each type of study.
6- Research proposal or study plan.
7- Copy of passport.
8- Even though it is not necessary to apply for this award, if you have an HSK diploma (indicating your proficiency in Chinese), you must attach it. The Chinese government intends to support up to 2 years of university study in Chinese so that you can acquire the level of Chinese necessary for the programme you have selected. However, having a degree boosts your chances of getting a scholarship because your training will be less expensive financially. This logic does not hold true for courses that are taught in English, since English-taught courses have enrollment rates that are twice as high as Chinese-taught courses.
9- Professors at the Chinese institution where you intend to enroll must provide an acceptance letter; however, this criterion is not mandatory. If you have an acceptance letter, it is a positive sign for you. Some institutions favor candidates who have one, while others do not require one. Try to get an acceptance letter if you’re applying to an institution with a strict seat quota; you’ll have a preference. If you are applying to an institution/institutions with a high ranking, you should aim to get an acceptance letter since you will have preference. Send acceptance letter requests through email to professors beginning in October. Send emails to professors at the university of your choice whose profiles are relevant to your field of study, but please don’t copy other students’ emails and pass them off as your own.

How can I locate the faculty of the university I want to attend?
You only need to go to google.com and type in the name of the university, such as Zhejiang University Faculty of Biochemistry or Life Sciences. The professor list will appear. If the professor does not respond to your email within a reasonable amount of time, don’t send any further emails; they may be busy or not in need of any additional students.
10- A pre-admission letter from the target institution is another crucial but optional requirement. This letter is sent by the institution, stating that it is interested in having you as a student. But it is difficult to attain unless you attended that university and are recognized for your accomplishments. It has the benefit of increasing the likelihood of receiving the CSC scholarship for that university. If you don’t have one, you could end up being sent to another institution of your choice (during the application process, you have the option to select 3 universities in order of preference).or in the worst case, to any other institution they chose.
11- Additional documents: You must attach any research publications or other awards you have.
12- If any particular Chinese institution requests an application screening / an application process fee, you must submit it. Print its receipt then attach it to the 2 sets of your documents listed above.

Language Requirements for CSC Scholarship:

If you plan to study in English but are not a native English speaker, you must have a TOEFL or IELTS diploma. Each institution has set minimum scores for both diplomas for each type of study, If you don’t have an IELTS certificate, you can still submit an English proficiency certificate (a straightforward certificate confirming that the last degree you earned was taught in English).
